Literacy Sessions

Welcome to our Literacy block. This is what it looks like.

SRA Reading Laboratory programs work by colour-coding portions of reading materials according to the reading ability level required. It emphasizes the role of the student in directing his own learning, assessing his own skills as he works his way up through the levels. The age range runs from 5 years reading age to 13 years reading age.

Spelling List - Each child chooses a list at their level. They learn how to spell the word, find dictionary meanings, synonyms, antonyms and writes sentences using the word. It is part of their weekly homework.
After Mrs Rassool completed the class reading assessments, she found that inference was their weakness. Students work through these inference sheets independently.
These are the activities that students choose to do during our literacy sessions.
