Our First Hockey Session

On Tuesday I felt like an ice cube but I still had to play Hockey. Hockey was more interesting than I thought it would be.

The first thing we learnt was how to hold the hockey stick. We used our left hand and held it like we were going to punch someone. At the bottom we had to use our right hand and hold it like a lazy L. We were told not to use it like a gun, not to hit rocks that are on the ground and avoid hitting people’s faces.

We were then sent of to get our stick and stand in a straight line. Numbers were given to us,  we went off into our groups. The aim of the activity was to move the ball with the hockey stick, go around the cone and pass the ball to the next person. It was tricky to control the ball and keep it straight. We then learnt that by bending our knees, it made the task easier.

Our next task was to hit a stationary ball without making a noise with our sticks. It was simple to do. Getting our direction right was a bit tricky. More practice will help us master that skill.

We can't wait until next Tuesday to play hockey again.

Letter Writing

Today we learnt how to write thank you letters. First, we decided who we were writing to. Most of us chose to write to our mums and some of us chose to write to our dads. We expressed our love for them and thanked them for being there for us.

The new vocabulary that we learnt were: envelope, postage, suburb, postal code, stamp, address and sender. We also learnt how to address our envelope, insert a stamp and post it.

We can't wait to look at our parents face when they receive our letters.

Thank you Dani for making this possible.
